| The New York State
DOT this year has completed a comprehensive survey of DOT
historic bridges built before 1961. The Long Island counties
alone contain over 700 pre-1961 bridges. As part of the survey
the complete listing was evaluated for National Register eligibility.
The National Register eligible bridges on Long Island range
in date from 1889 to 1955. The bridges are significant for
their physical attributes, engineering technology or association
with historical events and trends. The following bridges,
identified by name, location, construction date and type/details,
have been found National Register eligible:

Bridge Road/LIRR, North Hempstead, 1898, Rolled beam, multi-girder.
Sands Point Park, Village of Sands Point, 1900, Concrete deck

Rte 908 J/Great South Bay, Islip, 1951, Welded steel truss;
unusual configuration.
Rte 908 J/Union Boulevard, Islip, 1952, Continuous concrete
frame.
Cranberry Hole Road, LIRR Montauk Bridge, Easthampton, 1895,
